Intermittent Fasting Explained

[Video Transcription] Hey guys, It’s Matt with Operation Awesome Life. I’m out here at the park today, working. It’s a beautiful day. These trees are pretty awesome. There’s an intercoastal back there, you can see. It’s really beautiful, beautiful day in Florida.  I want to stop for a second and shoot a quick video for you guys. The topic’s going to be “Intermittent Fasting Explained.”

A lot of people seem to have questions on what intermittent fasting actually even is. There’s obviously a lot of people talking about it. It doesn’t seem like people have a real grasp of it when you talk to them out on the streets. If I talk to family or friends about what intermittent fasting is, most of the time they’re concerned about you and wondering if you are on some kind of crazy diet and you’re not eating. The word “fasting” really messes with people’s heads. I think people tend to think that it’s something that’s really unhealthy for you like you’re starving yourself or something like that.

I want to go against that and really tell you guys what I feel intermittent fasting is and what it should mean to you. With that being said, let’s get right down into it. Intermittent fasting … What I believe intermittent fasting is, is a diet in which you take specific periods of time in which you don’t eat. If I say that, isn’t that every diet? Any diet could technically be called an intermittent fasting diet, because if you think about it, we all fast every day. That’s why traditionally breakfast is called “break fast.” You’re breaking your fast. That’s why they call it that.

What Is Intermittent Fasting?

Everyone fasts every single day already. It’s not this foreign thing that no one does. Really, it’s just a different way of classifying a diet because that fasting period is a little bit longer than typical. Typically, people, they don’t eat from maybe 10:00 at night to when they wake up in the morning, say 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning. They only have an eight or nine hour fasting period. When you’re on an intermittent fasting diet, you tend to have a longer fasting period, usually ranging between 16 hours, to even up to 24 hours, sometimes people go up to even 36 hours or longer. That’s not something I do. The longest fasting period I’ve had is a 24 hour fast. I’ll talk about that more in another video.

Intermittent Fasting Explained Continued

Just so you know, when you’re on an intermittent fasting diet, usually your fasting period is about 16-20 hours. That’s typical. I usually do about a 17 hour fast. I usually eat for about a seven-hour window and then I have about a 17 hour fast every day. That seems to work the best for me.

Eating this way, I’m able to easily push my meals out and eat in that seven hour period without being too hungry. Also, I get a long enough fasting period where it really helps me burn the fat.

If you guys haven’t seen some of my other videos yet, I’m already down 11 pounds in the first month. I’m going to do a progress video for you guys, as well, on that. I’m having incredible results.

This is my second time around with intermittent fasting. I just want to shoot this quick little video for you guys to explain what intermittent fasting actually is, for those of you who may be wondering.
