The Power Of Writing Things Down And Journaling

Hey guys, what’s up? This is Matt with operationawesomelife.com and today I want to shoot a short little video to discuss The Power Of Writing Things Down And Journaling.

[Video Transcript] I’m a huge proponent of journaling and writing things down in my journal. There’s not a single day that goes by that I don’t write down something or read something I have written in my journal.

I think if you guys adopt this habit of writing things down, you will also find huge benefits of it.

I want to discuss some of the benefits that I have found of writing things down and how it is that I think it can help you.

Organize Your Thoughts By Journaling

One of the reasons I started writing things down in the first place is that I’m always learning and studying to better myself. Whether it be reading, going through a course, or something else I’m constantly learning new ideas and getting new information.

Because I’m always trying to grow and I’m always learning, there’s a lot of information that’s constantly coming into my head, and it helps me to really clear my head by writing it down.

But not only that, it really helps me to organize my thoughts and information in a single place that I can always access at a later date.

Journaling has also been a really huge benefit for me to keep all of my thoughts and information organized. If I were you, I would suggest getting a notebook that you can carry with you all the time.

This is a notebook that I use. This is my favorite style. I carry this thing with me everywhere. It’s always with me no matter if I’m working at the house or if I’m working at Starbucks or some other place.

I always have my journal with me, that way I can keep myself organized, on task, and I can definitely clear my head.

Using Journaling To Help You Achieve Goals

Another benefit of writing things down in my journal is goal tracking and goal setting.

I set my goals in my journal every day. Then I track which goals accomplish. And I also write down every other type of task that I do throughout the day.

I may start off with a few goals. But then later add different things that I do during the day to my daily list. This is really helpful because it allows me to see my daily progress and to make a game out of it.

Writing my goals down gives me a reason to make sure I stay on task and that I make sure I hit my goals.

Celebrate Your Success Reviewing Your Journal

By taking note of all I do in a day later on in the day I can recall and look over the accomplishments. This helps me to celebrate the successes I had in achieving my goals and the other tasks that I was able to accomplish as well. This is a tremendous benefit, probably the most important benefit of writing things down in your journal.

Writing things down in your journal also allows you to have the information easily available to you. You’re able to take notes whenever anything comes into your mind. Any idea, any thought, anything that you’re not even sure of how to deal with yet. This allows you to get it out of your mind by putting it on paper.

By doing this you file it away and don’t have to preoccupy yourself by constantly thinking about it. You can give your brain a break.  And allow your subconscious to go to work to try to figure out the solutions to your problems.  Or to try to organize those thoughts in a way that they will be helpful and beneficial for you later.

Writing Things Down Makes Ideas Easily Accessible

Sometimes I’ll write down what I learn or good ideas and I won’t think about it for a few days.

Then, sure enough, a few days later, the thought will come to my mind again.  And I’ll start thinking about it. I may have some other thoughts and ideas to add to that original idea and I can quickly access all of those notes. This has been extremely beneficial for me.

I think there are incredible benefits of writing things down. And if you make a habit of journaling every day I know you will feel the same. Try it for three weeks.  After three weeks of doing it, I can assure you, you won’t want to go back to not writing things in your journal.  Because it allows you to be so much more free, organized, and productive.

Final Thoughts On The Power Of Writing Things Down

You can really clear up your mind. You can stay organized in a way that you’ve never been able to be organized before.

It will allow you to keep track of all of the different goals you have every day.

You can do long-term goals or short-term goals. As I mentioned earlier I also keep track of the tasks I do in a day and celebrate the victories at the end of those days.

Another thing you can easily do is recall all of the information. Recalling thoughts and ideas that you’ve had by simply coming back to those notes without having to spend too much time. You can easily access those thoughts and ideas in your journal.  And then immediately bring those ideas back up to the surface and begin working on a solution to the problem.  Or developing the idea even further.

I love journaling and I’m always going to write things down. It’s just who I am now, and I think you guys would like it as well.

I really hope this was helpful for you guys. I hope it will help you understand “The Power Of Writing Things Down And Journaling.”
